Born in Piraeus, Greece, in 1954.
Graduated from the Physics Department of the University of Athens in 1978. He won a scholarship to the Greek Atomic Energy Commission where he specialized in Nuclear Physics and in 1982 he acquired his post – graduate degree from the National Research Center for Physical Sciences ʽʼDemokritosʼʼ. Three years later (in 1985), he was conferred by the Physics Department of the University of Athens for his thesis on the subject of ʽʼCompetition pn/d in nuclear reactions – reactions mechanismʼʼ.
He has written a great number of teaching books, useful notes and scientific aids. He has published scientific monographies while parts of his working have been shown in scientific congresses and magazines. Besides, he has been in charge in registered scientific research programs.
His research interests focus on subjects as: Nuclear Physics, Optical Interferometry and Holography. He is a member o Greek Union of Physics, Hellenic Society of Nuclear Physics and American Association of Physics Teachers.
Since 1995 he is a scientific collaborator of Greek Atomic Energy Commission. Dr. A. Aravantinos is a member of Energy Technology Engineering Department (Faculty of Technological Applications) and responsible of laboratories focusing on Holography, Optical Interferometry and Scientific Photography.
At the department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts he teaches Physics and Scientific Photography (I & II) since 1986.
